Dad, when did I decide your work boots were more embarrassing than my lie?

I shut the front door on you while Madison’s parents were inside. I know that sounds small compared with some things people do to their parents. I’m not asking you to tell me it wasn’t. I’m trying to say how I got there, because I didn’t wake up that day and decide to become somebody who treated you like a problem to hide.
