Blackheads are a common skin concern that many people notice at different times in their lives.

They often appear as small dark spots on the nose, chin, forehead, and sometimes on the cheeks or back. Although they may seem noticeable, blackheads are a natural part of how the skin works. Learning more about them can help make skincare routines feel simpler, more relaxed, and more effective.

The skin naturally produces oil to keep itself protected and comfortable. This oil, known as sebum, travels through tiny openings called pores. At the same time, the skin continuously sheds dead cells as part of its normal renewal process. Sometimes, oil and dead skin cells combine and stay inside a pore. When the pore remains open at the surface, the mixture inside reacts with air and turns darker in color. This creates what we call a blackhead.
